I actually do like Carter - and obviously I respect Xavier.

If I’m Grier; I’m actually not upset and this I see as a realistic offer. But I’d try and get more from Edmonton by offering even more retention - Arizona can help (SJS and EDM would pay up; I’ve often used Chmelevski (a guy who needs a change in scenery since he’s in the KHL) and some 4th rounders for a mil or 1.5).

I’d try personally;

EK65 - 7m$$$
Id also throw in any desirable depth roster player. For example I see Lorentz of interest for EDM. Just as nice depth piece who’s been playing well and is a great character for the locker room.

For

Xavier
Broberg
AND CARTER maybe?
2023 first (conditional on EDM passing the first round?)
and offer to take the lesser of EDMs players. If they value Ceci less than Id take Ceci. Or vice versa if it’s still Barrie.

It’s hard to gauge the value of what Grier would accept (I will be in shambles if it’s less than your offer). It’s even harder to gauge the value of Karlsson at 7m.

I’d be looking for Xavier and 2023 first (but I see EDM as a cup winner..), so I see that as a second which is why I’m looking at Broberg. And I’d still ponder how I could get Carter. I see Carter potentially struggling to get into the top 6 in the NHL. So I see a talented smaller worker on the third line but the kids always risen to the challenge of being under appreciated as a 4th rounder. Broberg I honestly still see as grenade. 2nd pair puck mover or bust. But Xavier is the real gem so I’m happy as long as he’s returning. It’s greedy to ask for all 3 but I’d still try it!

Bouchard is your Karlsson,

Guys a stud!

I just see McDavid and Leon hitting a new gear if Karlsson game to EDM. The pure excitement and appreciation for the acquisition I see Edmonton being unstoppable. With Bouchard too, by March if EDM is safely in the playoff picture; they could rest Karlsson with some load management, as you need to ensure he makes it to the playoffs.

Edmontons power play units would be stupid…

Mcdavid - Leon - Hyman
Karlsson - RNH
Is just stupid for a playoff run

Then your second unit…

Yams - McLeod? - Pulj/ Holloway
Nurse - Kulak

Or whatever they’d choose if they want to spread the depth.
I mean their regular 5 on 5 is a power play in dire situations!

RNH - Mcdavid - Leon
Nurse - Karlsson

In the final 5 minutes of game 7… they’re going for a goal all day long.

Lol, you're overstating Karlsson's value by a lot. You're miles away from anything Edmonton wouldn't laugh at.

Yeah sure bro SJS will trade you Karlsson for Barrie and Carter with a 3rd.

Read my comment - I said the trade offer @oilersguy was realistic. Anything less than Xavier and no one’s trading you Karlsson unless they’re a bad gm.

You're asking for

Xavier Bourgault (1st rounder)
Philip Broberg (1st rounder)
AND CARTER (Savoie) maybe?
2023 first (conditional on EDM passing the first round?)
Tyson Barrie (50 point RHD) or Cody Ceci (Edmonton's 1st pairing RHD)

for an injury prone 32 year old Karlsson with 5 years left at $7M (?) just because he's on a 15-game heater.

If you can't see how ridiculous that is then there's nothing I can say that will change anything for you.

Have a great day.

Karlsson is a RD and really good one, that is something that the Oilers need, I feel very strongly that if the Oilers are going to take that next step they need to trade for a good dman that will make actually make a difference no more mid round picks for Kulikov type dmen

Karlsson has never been above average defensively, he's all offense. And his offense hasn't been better than Barrie's in the past few years.

He NOT what the Oilers need. They already have 3 NHL RD on the roster, it's not a major need for the Oilers at all.

Read what I said. You’re clearly being obtuse for no reason.

“It’s greedy to ask for all 3 but I’d still try it!”
“I ponder if I could ask for Savoie”
“It’s hard to gauge 7m”

It’s the fun of the idea not literal statements.

The fact you think Barrie is an equal to Karlsson just makes me think you can’t formulate your own opinions and use JFRESH’s stat cards/ numbers for your word.

Barrie’s a great hockey player but you don’t need to use numbers with an eye test.

EDM isn’t a defensive hockey club. Why would you not want a puck mover who throughout injury can continually display elite talent. But many others follow the peer pressure of not watching Karlsson or using 3 second clips of his defensive errors; or just using a set of numbers.

I posted this yesterday in another thread, but it applies here:

He's not great defensively (never has been) and has fewer points in the past 2.25 seasons.

Barrie: 101 points in 145 games (57 per 82)
Karlsson: 81 points in 120 games (55 per 82)

Barrie: +15.69 GF% Rel at 5v5
Karlsson: +8.11 GF% Rel at 5v5

Then consider his injury history, his contract length (5 years left!) and the cost to acquire. It's just not worth it.

Pretty funny how you're casting aspersions with zero clue what you're talking about.
