Why do you hate yourself

Lol. Really grow up and try to add just one thing that shows any semblance of hockey knowledge to the conversation.

Okay. More NHL teams want cole caufield on their roster than Pierre Luc Dubois who is about to cry is way off his 2nd nhl team at the ripe age of 24

Okay. Finally you're trying you provide a reason. Caufield is a good player, but he's just not what Winnipeg would look for. The Jets have good wingers, but only one good center if Dubois is gone. A winger doesn't help with that.

It sounds like a pretty big dose of your bias there. But if you have evidence other than your opinion that Caufield would be more desirable, I'd like to see it.

My opinion is based on what every hockey reporter and every NHL exec has been saying for years. The hardest thing in hockey to find is a 1C, the easiest thing to find is wingers.

I don't think a first and a good prospect at next years TDL will be all that hard to get. It's the going rate for rentals of a similar calibre.

That's hard to say. It depends on where the first is. But say if it is a normal TDL deal and the first is say 20 or up, then I think it could/would be that and one of their top 4 or 5 prospects. Not likely a blue chipper, but a decent prospect.

Yeah needs and fit will likely mean more that shear "value".

Lol. You think Caufield is on the same level as Kane and Panarin? Both who aren't one dimensional, or tiny and are both play drivers as opposed to a complimentary winger.

I knew you were heavily biased, but comparing Caulfield to Kane and Panarin....

The way you said it, it's like EVERY top 6 center is worth more than ANY wingers in the league, which is very wrong.

I didn't compare Caufield to Kane or Panarin, but he's definitly in the same mould as Kane. Small goal scorer.

And by the way, they're all small unidimentionnal forwards. If you think Kane or Panarin are 2-way forwards, i don't think they ever played a single PK shift in their entire career.

PK doesn't necessarily mean you are good defensively, but still Caufield is nowhere close to the class of those two yet. He could get there, but isn't yet.

The center/wing thing is just a generality from everything you hear from NHL execs and reporters. As they say, the hardest position to fill in hockey is 1C, the easiest is wing. So, when you have two players of similar abilities and one is a center and the other a winger, the center almost always carries more value.

So, that's not saying Caufield is a bad player, it's just if the Jets move a center they don't want to replace him with a winger. They need a center to fill the spot, if they wanted a winger they would have kept Laine.

Unlikely the Jets would target Caufield if moving Dubois.

If the Jets move Dubois they need a center coming back not a winger.

Idk man based on the fact that Dubois just got ragdolled by Zadorov for doing nothing wrong and not one of his teammates stepped in to defend him - don't think he's a well liked guy. Not much trade value forr cancers. They only seem to be welcomed in dressing rooms like Winnipeg's

I don’t think they’d get a center back, that sort of trade only works in EA games. They likely have to trade him for a winger then find a C elsewhere in trade or FA. But don’t you think if they got a winger for him we could just develop one or two of Perfetti/Lambert/McGroarty/Lucius as top 6 Cs?

Exactly. If you make it like bandits like the trade above, you take it and not overthink it.

Both teams wouldn't do that trade. Dubois is set to test FA in 2024.

Here's a better idea: trade Stanley to Toronto for Alex Kerfoot.

I guess that's a wild card. It depends on if the Jets think any of those guys will be ready for center duty now. The Jets don't have the luxury of waiting 2 or 3 years for those guys to be ready. Chevy knows how hard it is to find a top 6 center, so I don't think he'll give that up for a winger that its far easier to find.

I'm just figuring the Jets would try to fill a position of need if they move Dubois and I don't think they will go backwards and get another winger. The Jets gave up a far better winger in the first place to get Dubois.

Laine is not better at all...
