Team - I was the first to want the Habs to tank, but I am all turned around on the subject. Not because I think they have a team that can win a cup (though you never know what can happen if they make the second season), but because when I look at all the 23 and under-aged players on this team, I feel strongly that the development of these kids picked in the first 2 rounds over the past 5-6 years is too important to risk against a single potential top 5 pick.

Just think about the value of our young players if they went on the trade block. I doubt there's any team in the league that wouldn't pay a 1st TODAY for one of:

Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj, Slafkovsky

And let's be honest, there are 3-4 of them who could bring 2 1sts or more.

If those players all end the season -15 or -20 with low point totals, they may lose confidence in their abilities and they may never reach their potential.

It's just way too much to risk, even for a Connor Bedard.

Remember that Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle are all selected 13-16th overall and those are the absolute best Habs players right now. We CAN continue to rebuild while selecting in that range.

Here's hoping Habs dress 7 defensemen when Matheson comes back!
