Karlson amp Dubois

Description
Karlson is getting back to his old form and would look amazing quarterbacking a PP unit with our top line. SJ probably doesn’t want that cap hit during a rebuild. It’s a big price to pay, but he’s a big time player.

Dubois will be traded this summer. WPG doesn’t want him lost to FA for nothing, and I’m sure no other team is going to give up assets for him knowing he’s UFA and expressing an interest to go to MTL.

Because of that, Hughes gets away with one here. He might not even have to give up that much… who knows.

That's a good deal for the Jets. That would definitely catch Chevy's interest, imo.

That's cause the Jets are fleecing the Habs, you and everyone on the planet knows that Habs 1st has more value than PLD does, Then Adding Beck to it is a steal for Winnipeg, of course they accept that. Unfortunately for you and the Jets the Habs are not proposing this.

Also, no way the Habs trade for Karlsson he is too expensive and doesn't fit their ideal timeline for contention.

that physically hurt to look at, habs just need to hold on and embrace the rebuild, not sell off a bunch of assets to maybe make the playoffs

Personally, I think IF Hughes does trade for PLD it will be after the 2023 draft and will include the 2024 1st + Beck or Kidney and maybe Dvorak if we resign Monahan.

You always whine and complain that I never like any offer Montreal fans make. Now when I go ahead and like one... you still complain.

There's just no pleasing you.

You only like the ones where Montreal gets screwed, You know as well as anyone else on the planet that the Habs 2023 1st is worth more than PLD and you want us to add Beck on top of that! A fair deal would be the 2024 1st and Beck or top 10 protection on the 2023 1st + Beck

It actually depends on where Montreal picks. You like most fans, overvalue first round picks compared to young players that have actually done something in the league. The Jets most likely wouldn't wait until 24 for the first, so it would need to be the 23 pick, imo.

Whether or not the Jets would accept top 10 protection would depend on how much they like Beck.

It's not the pick value it's the prospects skill level in that range that I am going on. Sure they are prospects and that doesn't mean crap until they actually make and stay in the NHL, however the level of skill in this draft above the 10th pick is equal to or better than PLD's, that is not to say that they will all become better players (they obviously all won't). It is just that it does not make sense to trade a prospect that could be equal to or better than PLD and add Beck to that trade. at that point we may as well just hang on to the pick and hope they do become equal to or better than PLD and IF PLD really is trying to get to Montreal after the 2024 season then we get him and keep everything. I like PLD and I would love to have him but if we are talking about trading an equal player (skillwise) and adding to it a very good prospect like Beck then it just does not make sense since we are not in win now mode and can just wait on the prospects.

Good explanation of your viewpoint. It's very similar to the reasons I dislike most Montreal fan's trades.

It makes no sense for Winnipeg to trade Dubois for long term cap dumps, or various collections of low end players and prospects that don't fill a need for the Jets. If that's all that Montreal wants to offer then Winnipeg is better off moving Dubois for the standard TDL package of a 1st and good prospect.

Going that route, the Jets get a prospect and pick they need instead of players they don't want or need.

Exactly why I think that this deal with top 10 protection works for both sides, if its not quite enough maybe we add either a 2nd or another prospect with 2nd round value like Struble, Norlinder, Mailloux (unlikely he interests anyone given his past) or Kidney

Edit** we could even send back Kovacivc

There you go. That's a reasonable offer that would probably receive consideration of proposed and if the Jets look to move Dubois.

So what would the Jets rather have a 2nd or prospect and if prospect which one named above?

I think the Jets would probably go with the 2nd. They draft well and don't need anymore LD and as you said probably wouldn't have any interest in Mailloux.

think SJ would say yes to this especially because there's no retention
but MTL shouldn't and EK likely says no
