Obviously if you do something like this ownership would have to be on board. You don't just do something like this without the ownership group agreeing to it or else yes you would be fired. The amount of picks and prospects gained from Karlsson would be worth it in my opinion. You are paying the guy anyways and not winning, the way I see it if they did go the route, might as well not win and gain some assets. The team would likely still be near the cap anyways.
