Between Kopitar and Danault, I think the Kings have the whole "two-way center" thing covered.

I don’t hate the idea of going a different direction from the core this season if it gets there, but yeah I think they’re much much better than this

Not this, though, some gruesome returns here for a bunch of mid-to-low 1sts and worthless scrubs like Wilde. That TOR trade is a horror show. Either way, this will probably revert to the norm and everyone will forget about clearing out players at discount prices.

Detroit declines.

Why would we trade for a 31 year old LD when we are absolutely stacked with prospects on that position? We have Edvinsson, Buium, Wallinder, Johansson, Viro, Sebrango, McIsaac, all of them waiting in the wings to get a roster spot. And why would we give up the only RD prospect we have and a 2nd round pick in the deepest draft for ages for the only reason to help STL shed a millstone of a contract.

Wings not taking on the Krug deal withLarkin, Bertuzzi, Vrana, Rasmussen, Seider and Raymond needing new deals. His deal is over 6 million and goes for several years where it will become a anchor. Also Tuomisto is playing very well in Liga and is the lone RHD in the system.

No Thanks.

They were significantly more together tonight, though still far from dynamic. But yeah, it's easy to throw one's hands up when we're losing because O'Reilly takes a pointless late penalty. This has been both spectacularly bad and extremely bizarre. At least they were roughly recognizable as a Blues team tonight. And Binnington did his best to keep them in it when Boston was swarming in the 3rd. I just feel like it'll pass, like anything else.

I would be confident in it passing if the underlyings weren’t so brutal. Like obviously they’re gonna start scoring some goals again but what exactly is that going to lead to?

Idk how the Leafs feel about this?, Parayko is good not what he used to be but still great, Greiss is a big ? for me, Leafs accept but I don’t think they throw in Muzzin especially if he retires, rather keep him to stay on LTIR to upgrade even more & use the cap ceiling to it’s fullest

Yeah that is true, I just don’t see daylight at the end of the tunnel. I don’t think they can get to the cup even if the west conference is awful

Yeah but 3-7 is already a tough climb even with 72 games left and the underlyings are quite bad too. They’ve definitely deserved to lose all these games too (except maybe the 2-1 Edmonton loss)

I'm sure there were some fans who said the same thing in 2018-2019. Lots of time left in the season.

Well yes, but even when they were technically in last they were only like 15-18-3. Also there were lots of indicators that this would be a good team with a semi-competent coach/goalie

Making up single digit points over 72 games isn't hard, man. Have you already forgotten 2019?

2019 they at least looked the part but had no goalie, this team is bottom 10 in pretty much everything important

The point is they got their act together with more ground to make up in 40 games, so making up less in 70 should be doable for this group (or one slightly modified in a smart way). If they stay this bad, fine, but that's not the trend. This team knows how to play, they know how to pick up their socks and they know how to rise up. For them not to do it would be more surprising.

I think if they want a shot at getting back in it, they are going to need one forward via trade and 2 Springfield players. Barbashev on the ROR line is an embarrassment

Heh. It's quite funny you say that, because that's another weird thing. Aside from Buch, he's been the team's best defensive forward this season and has been, but his offense hasn't kicked in. Leads the team in takeaways, not giving the puck away like so many others, hitting as always, and also has drawn the most pens on the team. It didn't work great offensively, but trying Barby on ROR's line seemed a decent idea and has helped from a defensive standpoint. The shifts with ROR and Barby together, we have the xG edge, but really neither team is scoring.

He has 10 shots at 5v5, 1 assist, 41% XG. He’s been caved in almost every game for 4 years now. And true he has been okay defensively (still a detriment) but it’s 10 games. The way you lead the team in takeaways is by playing all your minutes in your own zone btw. Upgrade him if you want any chance.
