Switch out Marino for Severson, would you consider it?

Value mostly.

The Devils aren't selling players for picks. And the only useful player coming the other way is Sandin, who is fine, but doesn't really fit a need.

Its quantity for quality. And its 4 players, none of which really help us.

So I would say, thanks but no thanks, on the above.

Maybe try a deadline deal for Severson alone, (perhaps retained down to $2m).
Wood, Tatar, Graves, Haula...all possible rentals too.

Our needs are big, interior wingers, who can play in close to net...tip, screen, clean up rebounds.
(and goaltending).

Anything with Matthew Knies in it would be of interest.

Jeannot isn't available, and it makes no sense for NSH to trade for an expensive winger like Marner. They already have two wingers with term and big cap hits in Forsberg and Duchene. Plus the wings are where they have the most young talent coming up (Jeannot, Tomasino, Trenin, Tolvanen, Evangelista, Kemell, L'Heureux). Taking on a contract like Marner's, plus giving up the kind of assets TOR would want for him doesn't set NSH up for either contending or tanking.

I don't get the Sandin hate.

-I'd think Nashville actually declines this - I'd rather have Johansen & Jeannot (plus the picks) over Marner & Tomasino(who I'd assume would get the callup). Plus, they don't have the cap space to absorb the extra $2.1M you have them taking on here.

-Bad deal for the Devils, this is pure quantity over quality. Engvall, Voit, & Malgin have marginal value at best for the Devils - you could maybe make the case that Sandin/2nd would get you Marino, but there's not enough here for the Devils to think about trading Holtz.

-I don't really see the Sharks biting on this one, although it's pretty close. I could see the Sharks being on Kerfoot's 10 team NTC though, so not sure if that would hold it up.
