Michkov is incredibly talented considering he lit up the KHL which is like the hardest league. His biggest issue is that he won't be out of Russia for a while. This tanks his draft stock, but if he was canadien, or even American or european, would he go number 1? Playing in Juniors could really help develop him as well

If he didn't have his KHL contract, I think there's a chance he'd go at one. THe KHL contract + Worries about Russia + Similar/possibly better talents without those concerns are what will keep him from going 1OA or possibly even 2OA

there is no canadian-bias when it comes to propsects. Slafkovsky and Hischier were both picked over higher rated Canadian prospects.

Wait, what? "Lit up the KHL"? He's played 14 career KHL games and he has 2 goals and 3 assists. That's great for a 17 year old but hardly lighting the place up.

In a vacuum his numbers aren't anything special but if he's getting comparable ice time to that of most KHL U21's, he's put those points up with something like 5 minutes of ice time per night. He's making excellent use of the limited time he's getting, but I'd prefer (if I were a GM looking to draft him) that he be getting more minutes in either the VHL or MHL.
