Why not just Monaham no retention for a 7th?

hes got 5 pts in 7 GP and has looked solid in the games i've watched. personally i dont see why MTL would move him with no retention if theyre getting a 7th back

Why would Ottawa be interested in a rental? They're not likely to be a playoff team.

I'm guessing we see Monahan to the Avs at some point this season, so he can slide into that 2C role.

Uh yeah we will be a playoof team I think. Plus it's a temperary rplacement for the injured Norris, to help keep us in the playoff race.

Ottawa is pushing for the playoffs. The analytics say they’ve been one of the best teams this year.

I don't see MTL moving Monahan until close to the deadline. If he keeps performing as he is they probably fetch a 1st round pick for him at the deadline as a rental.

Something absolutely disastrous would have to happen to 1 of the 8 teams that made it last year for them to miss the playoffs this year. Even then the Sens have to beat out Buffalo, Detroit and Philly, all of whom have been just as good.
