Why would a rental on Bo Horvat be worth more than a rental on a player like Claude Giroux? Hell, Horvat might not even be the best center available.

Ok, then do a little research for me. Who was the last trade deadline rental to fetch that kind of return and why would Bo Horvat be a comparable for them? I ask because I don't think this player exists and if they don't exist, obviously this trade isn't going to happen.

So I went looking across the last 5-6 deadlines and the only comparable trade to this was Matt Duchene from Ottawa to Columbus. Matt Duchene when traded was on pace for a 44 goal and 95 point season(across 82 games). What are you expecting out of Horvat this season? Interestingly enough, after looking I realized one of those picks Ottawa got was conditional and never exchanged so this trade would in fact be quite a bit more value than what Duchene was traded for.

Another interesting comparable would be the trade that moved JT Miller and Ryan McDonaugh from New York to Tampa. At that time, Miller was a comparable player to what Horvat is now and Ryan McDonaugh was a true top 4 defenseman unlike Schenn who would be 3rd pairing at best on most playoff teams. McDonaugh also had term remaining on his contract.

I'm going to assume you can see why comparables like these make you look foolish.

Why would Bruins do this when they know that Miller has not played great so far?

You really want to see the Leafs lose a trade I see. If the Canucks go scorched earth you are going to be devastated by the poor returns.

Break down your logic on the COL as there doesn’t appear to be any.

- Garland and MacKinnon already hate each others guts (see helmet throwing incident).
- COL needs a 2C, which Garland is not.
- Garland as a winger doesn’t even crack the top 6 behind Landeskog, Rantanen, Lehkonen and Nichushkin (so they pay Garland 5mil and lose Girard for a 3rd line winger? Lol)
- Majority of people wouldn’t even do Girard for Garland 1 for 1, let alone a decent prospect and a 2nd.

Do canucks fans think the bruins owe them for 2011 or something? It’s like the majority of the fanbase on here thinks the Bruins are getting ready to do the canucks a favor.

I have already said this before, but Miller’s extension hasn’t even kicked in yet, and he is playing like that extension was a mistake. Why would anyone be giving up any good asset for someone who playing like he has the clap?

Also, Canes pass. Just give a 3rd for Bear and call it a day.
