Have seen Girard touted for less on loads of Avs ACGMs. Thinking was a 1st, good prospect and Muzzin (slight retained) as a cheaper stand-in replacement. Short term less cap for the Avs and as soon as Muzzin is off the books frees up cap for Byram etc and your top 4 D look quite set anyway.

For leafs the aim was finding a good LD that has some term to give us some cap certainty (also bearing in mind I traded Sandin). Also, Muzzin might actually accept going to COL.

The 1st round pick isn’t even enough to just dump Muzzin if he’s not permanently on LTIR lol. You must not follow the Leafs or you are completely oblivious to Muzzins condition over the last 18months… two concussions last season and now a long term “neck” injury on a routine hit from a small forward… Muzzin is washed..

@mcranteskog is right on all fronts. How did Abruzzes a 23yr old 4th round pick all the sudden become a good prospect? Why in the world would COL take a healthy young top pairing capable dman and spin him into an old dman? This accomplishes nothing for anybody other than TOR that’s a very easy pass.

Imagine trading for a top power forward in the league and having him for 8+ years and not having to give up a 1st round pick. Lol awful trade
