I think Montreal will ask more for Edmundson that what they asked for Chiarot.

Okay Denisenko and a 5th might get you a 3rd

Missing a 1st+2nd+a good prospect to get Klingberg, especially at 50% retained

Not even close for ANA, FLA probably doesnt have what it would take to get Klingberg outside of trading a top prospect/young roster player tears of joy

Hard to see why the Ducks or Canadiens would bother with that.

The Ducks could probably do better for Klingberg at 50%.

Beyond probably wanting more if they were to move Edmundson, Montreal has a vested interest in Florida being as bad as possible this season given that they have Florida's unprotected 1st.

I'd be pretttttty curious to see the last time that a rebuilding team sent their top deadline trade chip + dowgraded picks just to get a 22 year old prospect who can't find his way into another teams lineup. All that and they're also retaining 50%?

Montreal isn't helping FLA unless its a huuuuuuge overpay. Montreal likes to see FLA struggles, since they have their unprotected 1st pick

Since Florida doesn't have a first-round pick in the near future, and won't be trading Anton Lundell, I don't see Anaheim sending Klingberg to Miami, especially with 50% retention.

If they can get more than a 1st+3rd+4th like they did for Chiarot, then they should do it!

-Florida's mortgaged too much of their future already to make another move like this - they've got limited prospects & no 1sts til 2026, so that alone should knock them out of the running for Klingberg. FWIW, this deal is all sorts of wrong - no reason for Anaheim to be including anything going back with Kilingberg, especially with the retention. Klingberg fully retained should bring back a package headlined by a strong prospect and a 1st, with a little extra (3rd rounder or additional prospect) depending on what Anaheim's searching for.

-Gonna buck against the other replies here - trading for Edmundson would be a bad move at this point. He missed 2/3 of the season last year and will most likely miss 1/3 of this year with back injuries, and everyone knows that once that's hurt, it's extremely prone to getting hurt again. I think giving up any significant assets for him when he still has term left on his deal has a very big chance of backfiring on you.

I think that's too steep an expectation for Kling. I will set the bar at a 1st plus a good, near NHL ready prospect or young roster player at a position of need.

1st+2nd+more I think is dreaming.

Even Taylor Hall with 50% retention only got a 2nd plus Anders Bjork.

Look what Lindholm got, look what Lundkvist got

Not steep at all, probably closer to an underpay tbh

That was an underpay for Hall then and its even worse looking back at that now

Lundkvist is on his ELC and has a cap hit below 1 mil for two more seasons, and is RFA controlled

Lindholm was a great haul, I frankly don't know how we got that much for him. He was absolutely the player Boston wanted.

Manson and Rakell got us a 2nd and a prospect we liked each, and both came in under 2.5 mil, where as Klingberg will be 3.5 making it harder to fit under the cap, and I think this year is going to show that unless you have a fantastic defensive D man to pair with him, that he is a huge liability in his own end, which will depress his price.

I'll take a 23 first and a prospect I like and call it a day, because asking much more is going to price us out of the market, especially when teams know his salary desires. Unless he drops his asking price from 8+ down into the 5-6 range, I think that too will scare off teams.

Klingberg is more valuable than both. And he can QB a power play with the best in the league. He easily gets a 1st with 2 adds at the deadline. We can retain 50% and take a contract back.

The ask starts at what we got for Lindholm, no reason to lower the asking price.
