So many really great hockey teams have fallen short multiple times before they break through to win the Cup...what I'm saying is good organizations (which actually win the Cup) build a team to be able to contend for several years- they don't cash their chips on 1 Cup run....which is what they would be doing with this (and probably any) Kane trade.

Is Kane a great player who I would love to have? ABSOLUTELY!! But not for the cost it will probably take to get him. So what would I be willing to give up? The most I would look to part with is what Dallas parted with in the Zuc trade...maybe add Pajuniemi on top of that. If this doesn't fly with CHI (as I'd expect it wouldn't), I'd take those same assets and instead upgrade the 3rd line (if come TDL the 3rd line does in fact need an upgrade to play alongside Chytil).

I don't think it's going to end up costing much, since Kane can torpedo any deal he feels like with his trade protection. He might give three or five places he is willing to go, so the bidding war will be minimal.
