Whats a serious offer? 1st round pick? 3rd round pick? Future considerations? 5th round pick with 25% retained?

You know what it is and you're just playing the smart guy.

That will have changed completely by then and I don’t expect Ullmark to still be here by then. The odds both are still on their respective rosters in 2 years in order to do this is slim.

That’s a good point but you never know.

I remember Lebrun saying this, but Friedman also mentioned on his podcast that there was significant interest in Anderson. I’ll try to find a quote.

You can save the time. He didn’t say. He just said some vague word. What constitutes serious?

What does that matter? He has an undesirable contract, it isn’t in any teams best interest to take him.

No crap. I don’t speak for NHL GMs in case you were wondering.

Logic says he’s not an asset.

What logic? Dudes averaged 25 goals per 82 games since his rookie year, is a speedy 6’3 power forward, which is rare in today’s nhl. When he’s on he can be a game breaker. Can play power play and kill penalties, he’s a leader. Was loved by Torts in Columbus (that’s hard to do). Old school GM’s and coaches love this guy. That’s like 90% of the GM’s and coaches in the league.

So your opinion doesn’t align with reality. When we’re doing armchair GM’s we’re putting ourselves in the mind of nhl GM’s. It’s not what we would do, it’s what they would do.

It’s actually funny because I had us giving up a decent prospect along with Anderson and getting a 2nd rounder back.. he’s actually going to net us a lot more. I guess you’ll be shocked when that happens.

Only once in his career has Josh Anderson scored more than 19 goals - and that was 4 seasons ago.

Only once in his career has Josh Anderson scored more than 32 points - and that was 4 seasons ago.

Over the past 3 seasons he has averaged just 12 goals and 20 points per season. He's injury prone, 28 years old and owed $5.5M for the next FIVE seasons. If that's not a cap dump, I don't know what is.

Interesting math. Of course its inaccurate, as the guys averaged 21 goals per 82 over that period. I’ll round up and say a whopping 37 points per 82 too. In a vacuum, he’s a solid third line winger. I think anyone would love to have him on their team. But his contract just isn’t desirable. Power forwards don’t age well, he’s already a bandaid, and he has a lot of term at a big number for what he does.

    78 gp - 17 goals
    63 gp - 19 goals
    82 gp - 27 goals
    52 gp - 17 goals
    69 gp - 19 goals

Might want to check your math bud. Rare 2nd line power forward. It’s fortunate for Habs fans that this guy is loved by nhl GM’s, but it’s unfortunate for your narrative.

covid shortened seasons. Wouldn’t think I’d have to remind you of that. He scored 17 in 52 games (only missing 4 games) two years ago, and 19 in 69 (only missing 13 games) last season. Sorry man, but your narrative doesn’t align with reality. Friedman and Lebrun are the insiders, they have spoken on this and according to them you couldn’t be more wrong. stick to your day job.
