As a Caps fan that loves Ovi, I would make this trade so quick.

as a real caps fan, i wouldnt trade ovi for mcdavid and drai combined. means too much to the city

i live near dc when we won this place went crazy. ovi is the life and soul of caps fandom. caps fans arent super hockey oriented we just love the caps and dont know other teams exist

As a Caps fan who grew up on Ovi, likes CMM, and very much does not like McDavid (I know he's the best player in the league, I just don't like him), still. Yes please!

But yeah, this is not happening IRL. Ovi isn't agreeing to it, and he'd probably go back to Russia instead of Edmonton based on his comments about how he'd never play for another NHL team when his contract was up last year. Not to mention the skewed value.

Edit: now that I think about it, as a fan, and I think many other Caps fans would agree with me, I'd rather see Ovi surpass Gretzky's record as a Cap than win another cup. So I think I would not want this to happen even if it was a possibility.

im not stubborn. yall arent from dc. everyone i know is a caps fan, and those peoples favorite player is ovechkin. dc hockey is completely built around ovechkin. whenever i go to a caps game its 70 percent ovie jerseys and like 10 percent oshie then the others. ovechkin is the backbone of this franchise and the thousands and thousands of casual caps fans that would theoretically see this trade go down would be immensely hurt

not to mention you ask anyone from dc if they know a hockey player they will always say ovechkin immediately. ask anybody. they cant name anybody but ovechkin

I understand the love for Ovi, I really do. But if this deal was proposed to you as GM, you would only be prolonging these fans leaving. Tye problem with that is that you would also be ensuring that they never came back
