at tdl the rangers will accumulate about 4.5-4.8 million dollars which makes this work. saw it on twitter from one of the stat/cap guys who knows what they are talking about

Othmann + 1st + maybe a 2nd (maybe conditional bump up to a 1st). You can include a cap move going back to Chicago into that package.

And the best rental the NHL has seen in years. It's going to take a very good prospect or very young player with a big ceiling. Late 1sts are a bag of magic beans and aren't going to cut it alone, nor is throwing together a bunch of B+ prospects to a late 1st.

No disagreement at all in terms of what Kane is...and I'd expect nothing less than the CHI organization to try to extract every last ounce of value out of him...they do owe that to themselves and their fans. But every other team will have somewhat of a "red line" they wont cross to add players for their Cup pursuit in 2023. Because NYR would have little to no ability to extend Kane, their "red line" probably wont be as generous as others. And everything they've seen from Othmann since they drafted him is spot on with the way they want the NYR org to go- the toughness, the hustle, the way he gets under opponents' skin, and especially the leadership. There will be other real good prospects available (they have many)...but Othmann will be a nonstarter.

I don't think Chicago trades Kane, just for the sake of fan revenues, unless it impresses them in the return. That may sound crazy, but a late 1st or B+ prospects obviously would jettison too many fans/season ticket holders. People still show up just to watch Kane play.

Chicago probably needs a very good prospect back in a trade for Kane plus, not a handful of NHL hopefuls and a late 1st objectively which has less then a 33% of becoming a NHL player. Kane is not going to be trade for a couple of potential NHL players in other words.

That's a fair take; however, Othmann is our up and coming stud. You wont be getting him for Kane, we have other assets we'd be willing to give away however.

Kaapo is the other option is Othmann is too much. If Kaapo has a so so season again, he could be a target

Depending how things unfold this year, Kaapo could be a more likely inclusion in a deal for Kane....I'm thinking a deal structured similar to the deal between FLA and PHI for Giroux. The thing that might loosen NYR's grip on Kaapo is their realization that they wont be able to keep all their young guys. And with LaF and Miller looking for new deals, NYR will be looking everywhere for places they can manage their CAP...but a lot of hockey to be played until the decision would be made to move on from him.

With the one aspect that 31 teams in the NHL will take Kane over Giroux every day of the week...Kane is hands down a game changer plus unlikely Kane forces Chicago to negotiate with only one team.

Kane also has a full NMC. He's likely not waiving it for 10 playoff teams so the hawks have leverage. If he says "rangers or nothing" the hawks could get a 2nd or they can eat his salary and watch him potentially walk for nothing at the end of the season.

The cap going up soon means the rangers can keep all their kids. We're going to bridge laf and miller, and we have plenty of cap, and then it goes up. And in a few years we can move trouba and kreider, and we have plenty of room...

Still, doubt they'd give up that quick on kakko. I honestly doubt they'd give up on him at all.

Cap is going up- but not going up quick enough to get them past next year when Chytl, Krav, Miller, and LaF all need new deals. Beyond next year they will have the benefit of increasing CAP and loosening NMCs. They will not give up on Kaapo (or Chytl)- but the landscape of where they're at as the TDL approaches will dictate how aggressive Drury is in seeking a deal. The market then will determine Kane's value- could be more than Giroux, but that's not a certainty. Every team by then will know Kane's desire to be part of a rebuild...and for the few home games left at that point, CHI would be crazy to hold him for minimal extra $ only to lose him for nothing come July.

Highly unlikely he corners the Hawks. As mentioned in a earlier post, Kane has a great relationship with the Hawks, does a lot of off-ice work with them, has said he wants to work for the organization post playing days, so I doubt he corners the Hawks like that. I would guess he hands in 3 teams maybe more. I also wouldn't be surprised if he signs again with the Hawks in a few years to play a couple last years and retire as a Hawk.
