Feel like with Chabot already playing at a high level and Sanderson on the way (without counting chickens too much) the Senators don't really need another high level defenseman as much as they just need another steady player (or two) to supplant guys like Hamonic and Zaitsev and just tighten things up. Luckily for them though those guys are readily available, especially if you don't mind retreads a little bit. Dylan DeMelo, Mike Reilly immediately come to mind as guys on teams that need to clear the roster spot. Ethan Bear too, I think he's in a tough spot in Carolina but he was eating heavy minutes decently well in Edmonton. Damon Severson too though you'd have to extend him and he'll probably cost a bit more.
The obvious thing that comes to mind is Chychrun, but I don't really know that it's worth it. You'd be playing him (or Chabot or Sanderson) on the offside the entire time he's there. Chychrun would significantly improve things defensively and I think Chychrun's shoot first mentality could pair well with Chabot's puck movement. But that might also limit what Chabot is able to do himself and I think Chabot is quite a bit more creative with the puck (ie, not just gonna point shoot it all the time, which is something Chychrun does a lot and something we know isn't a way to consistently score). Also, dude can't stay in the lineup.
