Current roster after 2nd round of cuts

Description
Avs will need to cut another 4 skaters to get cap compliant with a 22 man roster. For example, cutting Blidh, Maltsev, Megna, and Bowers would put them $121k under the cap ceiling with a 22 man roster (with Helm and Landeskog on IR). They could also carry an additional guy until Helm comes back if Landeskog goes on LTIR, but 22 + Helm seems like where they'll want to end up.

There are essentially two spots up for grabs between Sedlak, Kaut, Blidh, Maltsev, Megna, and Bowers; or maybe 3 if MacDonald gets sent down.

Based on preseason Kaut will make the roster. I'd also like to see Bowers given a shot instead of Sedlak and Maltsev, but Sedlak has the inside-track since Bednar knows him and convinced him to sign with the Avs.

Annunen was sent down already yesterday, a few hours after they made all their cuts, which was weird he wasn't part of they full list at the time.

I really hope Sedlak doesnt get a favour here, he hasn't done anything to earn it but will probably get a chance bc of Bednar, That is spot on

I'm not at all sold on Sedlak but he may have a path to the roster for now for an additional reason: he plays C and Bednar could be reluctant to put, say, Meyers there if Helm can't start the season.

Thanks for the update on Annunen. I've ammended the roster above to reflect that.

Sedlak has been playing with Cogliano and one of Blidh/O'Connor/Kaut/etc most of camp so it seems like he's already pencilled into that 4C spot.

Meanwhile Maltsev has been with Hudon and Olausson a lot, so it seems like that'll be the top line with the Eagles.

Bowers has played with Ranta and Smallman most of the time so he's likely further down the pecking order. I hope he gets a real look in the next couple of preseason games on a line with legit NHLers though, like Cogliano-Bowers-O'Connor for example... Give him an actual chance instead of sticking him with Megna and Blidh.

Bowers has been jerked around by the org but also had some bad luck with injuries. It would be pretty awesome if both he and Kaut could make the team and be cheap but effective options for the bottom six.

Realistically Bowers gets waived but most likely passes through, then gets an opportunity later in the season if and when injuries strike AND if he's been playing well and staying healthy. There's just too many guys ahead of him right now, some of which have the "vet" tag.

Yeah, he needs to stay healthy and have a bounce-back year. At the very least, he can up his trade value and maybe find a shot somewhere else.
