As good of a player I think Draisaitl is, I would say that would be a steal for EDM.

All this saying, this is not even at all. You're asking for the number 5 center in the world for the number 1 defenceman in the world. Closer would be Makar for McDavid.

I tend to agree, just had a thought of theoretical 1 for 1 trades where the value is close, both are franchise players, and superstars, however cale does play the more valuable position

Makar is a generational talent, Draisaitl can be the face of a franchise. If Draisaitl continues his growth and turns Matthews-like while maintaining his two way games, stronger edge work and faster skating This could be a fair trade. Right now it's not good for a 1 for 1

I love Drai and he's a hell of a player, but this is not even. Makar is in the same conversation as Lidstrom and Orr, he is that special. There is no framework around a player like him, that ever makes sense.

I wouldn't do it. RNH is not good enough to dominate on the second line in the playoffs. With the talent edmonton has coming up on the wings you are keeping Draisaitl. I don't think edmonton needs generational defense to win a cup they just need a mediocre one.

LOL, it's only "fair" if you're an Avs fan. McDavid has more value than Makar and it's not particularly close.

The title made me think Makar for McDavid, which I don't think the Avs would actually do given that they already have a 1C. Makar for Drai obviously favours Edmonton. Even if Drainhad the same term left I think Avs would pass.

Very different play styles, but since Bouchard is coming off a fantastic year I thought I'd compare it to Makar's same-age year. Note that Makar's 22 year old season was against the US Southwest teams only in the COVID year, but their 5v5 numbers are comparable.

Bouchard's results were bang-up, while playing with less help (what IPP shows) against the entire league with much more travel. His individual High Danger chances are always going to be lower as he doesn't pinch as much - Makar's elite skating allows him to do more in the offensive zone. Bouchard needs to work on his giveaways too, although Makar is high standard by which to be judged in this regard.

While I'm not saying they're equals, the gap isn't as large as many would have you believe. Certainly there's no need to give up a guy who scores 50 goals per season on a regular basis AND 100+ points just to get a P/GP defenseman, as they have a young elite offensive defenseman on the roster already.
