It’s a more likely outcome for Bob than letting him play out his final three years IMO…it comes with a $1.7m cap hit for the three years after his contract would be up, presumably when the cap is going up.

I think the likely gameplan is to hope he has a good year and then flip him with retention. The goalie market once a few guys re-sign could be pretty weak so a few teams might be willing to take Bob on for 3 years closer to 5 million.

You’d be better off retaining 50% and trading him. Providing he’s willing.

If possible without giving up assets, then yeah that's the better option but that would need his value to first be positive and then get Bob to waive his NMC

I mean, he did just have a good year, he was top 5 in the league in xG and there were more goaltenders that were needed than there were available. I feel like it's going to be harder to move him next offseason than it was this offseason.

That also doesn't take into account trying to trade a guy out of Florida state with a full NMC.

Alright, if this were to happen, who doesn’t get resigned between Reinhart and Duclair to allow the Cats to resign Lundell? I would expect Duclair goes, mainly because of his consistency issues, but also because Reinhart can be utilized as a C whilst Duclair can’t. Not to mention how much the Cats gave up for Reinhart. At that point, assuming that’s the case, how much do Lundell and Reinhart get?

Yeah, if it comes down to getting rid of one of them it's probably going to be Duclair, however I do hope and expect the cap to go up rather significantly for the 2024-25 season. I'm thinking Reinhart probably gets like 7,5m x 5 and Lundell gets like 5m x 3.

Actually on second thought I think it would be Bennett we get rid of and give the 3C job to either Luostarinen or Sourdif.

He had a good not elite season and thats coming off the previous 2 years where he was bad. Another good year gets a bit more recent track record .

Also the longer it goes the commitment for the acquiring team drops more and more. Had they moved Bob after his SB this summer it still works out to 7.13 million average per year in actual dollars. Next offseason same scenario it drops down to 5.84.
