Especially with 1) Boston's need for almost futures in a Pasta deadline trade, 2) Calgary's massive need for defensive depth like Hanifin in a deep playoff run, and 3) Boston's clear lack of need for a top pairing LD after the Lindholm acquisition and extension.

If they were trading Pasta, and they are not, it would not be for Hanifin as the main piece. It would be a young center.

If they were to begin shopping Pastrnak, do you have examples of young centers they may want? Young top-6 centers are the rarest to be traded, so hard to look at potential comps. Would you go for:

1.) A prospect center with top-6 upside (Byfield, Rossi, etc)?
2.) Younger player, but on bubble for top-6 (Strome, Roslovic, Kotkaniemi, etc)?
3.) A veteran C with some term (Schmaltz, Schenn, etc)?

(The names listed were just descriptive, to show the different ‘types’….not actual trade proposals)
