I think a 2nd and a prospect in the Jarry deal would make it go through. Kapanen is worth a 3rd. He’s been meh over the past few years.

New Jersey has 3 NHL goalies, and definitely won't be buying at the deadline.
Seattle and Anaheim also 100% won't be buying.

If the Devils are in it though, it's because goaltending has been fine, so building on this, why would the Devils make a trade like this?

Its's Colorado's 2nd, it is near as makes no difference a third round pick. If he picks up this year and performs a bit better I would be willing to pay that for him.

The only real question mark I have is what the Ducks are planning to do for the top two RW spots. Terry seems a lock for 1RW, 2RW is determined by if we play McTavish at LW or move him to center and Strome plays RW.

Say, one goalie never comes off LTIR, another gets hurt, and a third is playing at back-up level. (Just a scenario).

If Jarry extends, it could make some sense.

Also...another way to look at it. If NJD becomes competitive for playoff spot, its most likely at Pittsburgh or Washington's expense.
Stealing their players would have twice the effect in near term.

Bernier is not a top-2 NHL goalie with his health status.

Even with average goaltending last year, we would have been competing for playoff spot.
