Works for the Islanders.
However, Lou would need to go into free agency (ooo so scary) and get a... free agent (Lou must be scared reading this now).

But seriously, Good deal, it's just that Lou would need to get a free agent, or re-sign Bellows with a good deal with some term and more pay.
Well see...

CHI declines. We aren't going to be buyers any time soon. Especially not for an underperforming 26 year old on an overpaid and backloaded contract. In fact, SJ would probably have to pay someone to take him, and it would cost you at least a 1st to dump his contract, unless he gets really hot this season.

very true, i see Seattle maybe swapping him for Donskoi if Labanc rebounds nicely, from what i’ve seen from him this offseason and camp he looks to be in great shape and playing really well! if through December he’s still playing like a top 6 maybe sharks keep him… maybe they can move him for more value… sharks will absolutely be players at the TDL and i see them selling as we have a lot of decent NHL caliber guys but not enough top end talent to challenge for playoffs!

Bonino 50% retained as a rental who is excellent defensivly, adds some offence has won the cup already will be a sought after piece. this seems fair.

I would want more for a 25 year old power forward with 40 Goal potential but if he won’t resign this might be the best we can do for him. have to either resign him or trade him. losing him for nothing would hurt us long term.

How is Bonino's skating these days? Could he keep up with the Avs frenetic pace?

For sure. If he gets hot and SJ retains a chunk of his cap hit, I could see there being a positive return on him.

Right? Time flies. Not that he is old or anything. But 26 is probably out of the scope of CHI's rebuild.

Yeah, that's my question: is he a fit? The price is right but if he can't keep up with the Avs, it's not the right move.

Edmonton might do that at the deadline if one of their top-2 has a long-term injury. Right now they wouldn't be interested.

Doesn’t Timo Meier have a crazy qualifying offer? Like $10M? Can’t see him getting this type of return when he can just go to UFA if he chooses.

lol!
he is in good shape and works hard but no one would ever mention him being "fleet of foot"
his PK work and defense is sound but he is a slow skater and might not keep up, that being said he has had solid chemistry with Cogliano in the past.
