Sandin for CMM

Créé par: Capitalfail67
Équipe: 2022-23 Capitals de Washington
Date de création initiale: 22 sept. 2022
Publié: 22 sept. 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Orlov and Jensen are both UFA. Sandin can slot on either RSD or LSD and Alexeyev is NHL ready also... would give us a younger blue line w talented players.

CMM is the odd man out in a position that we have a few solid players at now (Protas and Lappy)

Détails additionnels:
Leafs add a 3rd bc McM is younger and still has 2 years left on his ELC.

Doesnt exactly need to be a 3rd but imo talent feels similar but 2 years of ELC make McM more valuable

Not commenting on value (because it's more than fair), but organizationally there's a need for a cost-controlled second pairing d-man in 2 years when Matthews re-signs. Brodie, Muzzin, and Giordano are all done and there's going to be a need for Sandin's services in that position behind Rielly.

No way Caps offer that. McMichael is way more important to them than Sandin would.

While i agree with comment, most NHL teams replace those players with successful draft picks. On the other hand acquiring McMicheals might be a replacement for Matthews when he gets traded in the final year of his contract.

As a leaf fan - been tough to see such a good team get bounced early each year. One of the only things that keeps me going is soaking up the never ending Leaf jealousy of other team’s fans tears of joy . Imagine a Habs fan (first team in history to finish 32nd) telling us Matthews is going to leave the premiere franchise in the league and the centre of the hockey universe grin . You better get used to him (& Leafs) torching the Habs for a few more years squinty smile

I don't have a dog in this fight, as I am a Caps fan so we are familiar with early bounces from the playoffs. That being said, "the premier franchise in the league" is so untrue it hurts.
A) Leafs aren't even the most valuable franchise in the league (Rangers are)
B) When was the last time the Leafs won a cup...
C) When was the last time the Leafs made it out of the first round...

I would say the Leafs are the premiere laughing stock franchise in the league (sorry to be mean but it is kinda true)

CMM has fallen on my ranking / potential list. i value Protas and Lappy over him. Sandin is Fehérváry good... do you know much bout Sandin or are you just being a homer. honestly asking

I like Sandin but we're loaded at LHD, we need someone like McMichael who was amazing last season with the little time he got on ice.

Orlov - UFA
Alexeyev ( constantly injuried / not an upgrade over Sandin)

after that i dont think we have anyone.. RD is now a massive strength

If Fehervary, Orlov, and Alexeyev are the future in top 4 then we don't need LHD. If you're going to move out McM it needs to be for a very good, young, cheap top 6 player.

I am not jealous of you as a fan, in fact i feel sorry for the fans and franchise. As a NHL fan i enjoy watching the Leafs among other clubs. As a Habs fan i enjoy watching the playoff implosions, shaniplan, the Babcock era, Dubas actions as a Mgr. It's priceless entertainment.

While I agree that McMichael's projection has fallen a bit, I think he proved last year that his floor is as a very good 3c on a playoff team, which is incredibly important to have. The Caps should only be moving him on if 1) he asks out or 2) they are getting back a star player that pushes them over the top this year. Sandin is, like McMichael, not going to push the Caps over the top this year. Send over a second and Leason or AA, or even a first like Dallas just did for Lundkvist, but don't bail out the Leafs for their poor player management by giving them a blue chip, NHL ready, cost controlled center.

Leafs are 2nd (just barely) in value to a rangers; MSG (arena) being the difference. Leafs generate the most revenue amongst nhl teams (remember our tickets are $CD too) and have the largest fan base. I’m not saying there aren’t other great hockey towns and franchises - Rangers, Habs, Bruins, Hawks, Flyers, etc. but Toronto/Leafs are #1 without much debate. When we win the cup (soon 🤞), parade will tell you all you need to know.

Right wink - you’re not jealous, but you take time out of your day to randomly take shots at the Leafs smirk . I never comment on the Habs or any other team (unless responding to something their fans say) Because i don’t care about them - until we’re playing them. I find Leaf obsession by non Leafs fans weird, but chacun son gout

It will be an entertaining season and hope for the sake of the franchise they don't dissapoint their fanbase. You should seriously think about chearing for another franchise if the one of the reason to stay a Leafs fan is and i quote "The one thing that keeps me going is soaking up the jealousy of the never ending Leafs jealousy of other teams fans".

Unless Sandin is expected to play the right side, I just can't find a good reason to make this deal since it will force Alexeyev onto waivers and almost certainly mean the Caps lose him for nothing. I'd rather keep McMichael and Alexeyev up and see what they can do this year before anything as big as this move would be made.

idk gotta make sense for the Leafs to trade hiim also... Sandin is going to be a top 4 d man.... feel like that trumps a 3c
