I think you'd have to give CAR a defenseman though, depending whatever happens with De Haan or Gardiner. Even if Chatfield is good, they could not have any relevant 7th D. I'm sure they sign De Haan and make my point moot, but at least for now that's the story

You have completely missed the point on why Carolina would move Bear. Ignore the top 4 (Slavin - Burns, Skjei - Pesce)

Bear, Coghlan, Chatfield, De Haan. Currently all there. Lajoie has played in the NHL before and is also an option. The reason they could move Bear is because they have all that luxury. Carolina would not want a D man back. A 2nd for Bear is MORE Than good enough thanks and goodbye

Brannstrom is far from the problem. He's fine.

We know Lajoie has played in NHL he was a Senator, lol. But he really is only AHL level.

I would love to see the Sens pick up Bear, he would be a great value and still has some potential higher upside to grow, plus he is a RD. I could see a Sanderson - Bear pairing working nicely.
No need to give up a D as well here Branstrom for all the noise around him is still a great puck mover and can QB a PP, I really see no reason for Sens to move him, even if he is only playing 3rd pairing and 2nd PP.
With Motte coming in, what I would really like is for them to move out Grambel and pick for him.
