I understand the whole idea of trading Girard in the first place is for cap relief. This idea is just based off of a position of need for position of need type of deal.

I think Newhook will make more if he is on the 2nd line this year. Trading Girard might make sense if you could get some good bottom 6 players or maybe a goalie in return. But this is still good. Schmaltz is good and will make the top 6 better.
