Jets have no interest probably only edm toronto be interested tbh Canada teams aren't the best fit for Bertuzzi anyway

I don’t think teams will be lining up to get him right away. Also not entirely sure that SY wants to part with him, although it could be the case.

Toronto is the only realistic landing spot for Bertuzzi, And obviously a single 1st round pick doesn't cut it.

This would be at the trade deadline. If Bert's having another 30 goal season, Detroit's not in a playoff position and contract extensions are far apart.
If playoff teams start calling and offer up a 1st round pick plus, Steve Yzerman will be listening.

I don't see how they are the only realistic option. Cap would have to go back to DET, and the fans here have been pretty clear that they aren't interested in anyone that TOR would need to move to make it work.

Bertuzzi will be a sought-after rental piece, but I doubt it's to a Canadian team. Either no room or need on any of those rosters.

Obviously you haven't seen the + symbol below the 1st in the trades. A 1st round pick is the base requirement. Non negotiable. The added pieces after that are what I'm curious about.

Leafs will easily decline if it's anything more than a 2nd round pick and a B level prospect, we can just sign him during free agency. Red Wings have no leverage for an expiring contract

Likely true. But all Canadian fans used the vaccine thing as a reasons why their team would never trade for Bertuzzi. Now that is over. If a Canadian team is having a strong season, Bertuzzi as a rental will be very intriguing. His style of play is built for playoff hockey. He just hasn't had the opportunity to showcase that in Detroit. He does have an AHL playoff MVP on his resume.

We'll have to see how the season unfolds, but I don't really see a fit in Edmonton.

Wings easily decline that pathetic offer and trade him to Toronto's competition.
PS: Toronto couldn't afford in in the UFA market anyways.

The + would need to be pretty substantial, Even as a rental Bertuzzi should get us a young roster player a 1st round pick and a 2nd or B level prospect at worst. Pretty similar to the Mantha and Vrana trade.

He was a Leafs fan growing up, Leafs had interest until he was injured. We will just sign him when he becomes a UFA anyways but no one is paying a first for Bertuzzi. Red Wings have no leverage for a player that wants to leave

The + would need to be pretty substantial, Even as a rental Bertuzzi should get us a young roster player a 1st round pick and a 2nd or B level prospect at worst. Pretty similar to the Mantha and Vrana trade.

Mantha was signed for 4 more seasons. Bertuzzi is on an expiring contract. So teams won't be offering up what Washington did for Mantha.

Most playoff teams would definitely have some interest in him, but it comes down to need and fit. Toronto would probably love to upgrade their LW in the top 6, but they're pretty capped out so even at the deadline it would mean DET taking back a contract on top of the acquisition cost. Other than them maybe Calgary or Edmonton? But I'm betting there'll be another franchise that will have the assets to outbid any of those teams.

Yzeman has already stated numerous times that he's not moving Bertuzzi as a rental. If Yzerman deals Bertuzzi he will be under contract long term which only increases his value.

Unless you are getting a cap dump back to offset value, Detroit wouldn't be getting the same return as they did for Mantha. Many seem to forget that the 1st rounder was already included in dumping Panik (per Freidman), so Detroit would be looking at a slight downgrade at W and a 2nd for Bertuzzi as a direct comparable to the Mantha-Vrana deal. He's also on an expiring deal, which would give him less value than what Detroit got for Mantha, since Mantha had tons of term on his contract. If Mantha-Vrana is your comparable, you are going to be incredibly disappointed with the return.

Like i stated above, Yzerman has come out and said that he's not trading Bertuzzi as a one year rental. Reportedly Bertuzzi wants at least 7x7 to remain in Detroit. He could offer him that much then move him at a later date to another team. And Bertuzzi is worth more than just another winger and a 2nd round pick.

If it's a sign an trade then yes, absolutely, He'll get a Mantha type return. Bert may want that 8th year, But ultimately Bert has no trade protection so he doesn't get a say on being traded as a rental. Trading Bert as a rental may not be what Yzerman wants but at the end of the day, if he feels Bert is going to walk as a UFA and can't get him signed for a trade, he will not hesitate to pull the trigger and get the assets that he can. Detroit's re-build cannot afford to lose a piece like Bertuzzi for nothing. Yzerman knows that. Even as a rental he's easily bringing in a 1st round pick in what is supposed to be a deep draft.

I really don't see Holland paying anything of significance for him. As things look today I'd say Edmonton is out of that conversation but who knows come deadline could have an injury or two that suddenly paints a different picture. Idk if a first will be in play Holland and the Oilers organization don't tend to move completely outside that first round. Very tough to make a realistic offer

Toronto is the only realistic landing spot for Bertuzzi, And obviously a single 1st round pick doesn't cut it.

If that's the only realistic landing spot, why would they give up more than a 1st? They don't need him, and can't afford him.

Holland LOVES Tyler Bertuzzi. Holland of all people knows what he brings. If Kenny think Bertuzzi will help push Edmonton over the hump and take them to the cup. He'll happily give up a 1st.

It's not the only realistic landing spot. Toronto and Edmonton are the two most likely amongst Canadian teams. There's another 24 teams outside of Canada and Detroit. Half of them will be in the playoffs and will have interest in Bertuzzi. The price is a 1st +

I was referring to Toronto being the only realistic team among the Canadian teams, As they were reportedly interested in him when he went down with his back injury. If Bertuzzi is dealt it will be 100% to an American team not a Canadian team.

This would be at the trade deadline. If Bert's having another 30 goal season, Detroit's not in a playoff position and contract extensions are far apart.
If playoff teams start calling and offer up a 1st round pick plus, Steve Yzerman will be listening.

Trading him at the deadline would be the worst possible move. That is where he will have the least value.
