Assuming Myers had a season like last year and assuming that RD are still very difficult to acquire I don't think it costs to move him. Apparently there were multiple teams that reach out to the Canucks this offseason to see if he was available. He is also owed only 1M in base salary next season after signing bonus kicks in.

Dude I’m not writing an essay and a works cited page to prove my point. OEL is incredibly overpaid at this point. Maybe he would be good if he cost Zadarov money and had similar term, but that’s a completely different scenario.

Dude, nobody is denying that OEL is overpayed, but he's still worth much more than what Zadorov makes

He’s not a four million dollar a year player lol. I’m honestly not sure how he grades out compared to Zadarov tho. I’m sure his numbers benefited from playing in Calgary last year.

The real issue here is that being worth “much more” than Zadarov would put him around 5 million…. And I don’t think he’s in that category tbh.

OEL is easily worth 5 million minimum. The metrics back that up. Canucks media also says the same

I’d be interested in seeing those numbers. If you want to share the article with me go right ahead. I’m not a fan of OEL but I would be curious to see the numbers ur referencing.

That being said in my opinion I can’t imagine OEL is worth five million in this market. Maybe that’s where the disconnect between us is. I think OEL can give you solid minutes on a third pair. I think if he’s in ur top four you probably aren’t winning a cup. But maybe he will continue to regain his old form in Vancouver now that there is less pressure on him. I hope he proves me wrong.

If you think OEL is no longer a top four defenseman then I don't know what to tell you, because all evidence to the contrary

Having Fun Guys! Good Convo, hope you don't mind me adding my 2 cents!

OEL is probably still decent, but had a bit of a down year offensively, which I would attribute to being his first season as a Canuck, it taking time to familiarize himself with his line mates and D-Partner and the fact he's no longer the #1 PP D-Man. Myers likely was a victim of that reality being his D-Partner as well, putting up less than stellar offensive numbers, but Defensively he was solid at Even Strength +15 and his size gives him distinct advantages. Neither are too old yet, they simply didn't live up to their contracts expectations.

Hard to find Top-Pairing Veteran D-Men for under $5mil/yr, so they're worth that in my eyes. Hopefully they do much better this year, after bringing in better defensive forwards in Lazar & Mikheyev and hopefully Dickinson does better in his 2nd Season with the Canucks as well. Boeser just wasn't there last year, given the health of his dad, so I'm counting on him rebounding big time this year as well

Are you serious with this Trade!? What's up with Canucks Fans tonight!? Yikes grimace

Lol, that hurts coming from you... seems like very other AGM's you make are some of the biggest head scratchers out there.

All Good. I'll be honest and apologize, because two things, I was just coming out of an online spat with a few other Canucks and I didn't see Horvat + extension, so my bad

My posts are all great, what are you talking about lol wink

I appreciate the maturity, it's rare to see on this site. I should have taken the high road but bite instead, you out classed me.

No man, I don't mind, accountability is a good thing. Nobody's perfect, we all have our moments, I just try to admit my errors & mistakes and apologise when I'm wrong. I appreciate you! Take Care & Have Fun!

Hmm thought this trade would be closer. It was based off the trade you had posted a few days earlier that had Hoglander and Horvat extended for Newhook a 1st and a 3rd, then there was a separate trade of Girard for futures. I figure take out the 1st and 3rd and replace those future’s with Girard might make it work. Girard is worth more than a 1st and 3rd, but I didn’t think it was that far off your trade proposal.

That's sound reasoning, but Girard is considerably more valuable than just a late 1st and 3rd.

You really think a late 1st gets you a 23 year old no.3 Dman cost-controlled for 5 years at a good caphit? Good luck with that

He didn't exactly have that great of a year last year. Yeah, he's young, and yeah, he's cost controlled, but guess what, he's also small and is starting to look rather disposable for the Avs in the eyes of the rest of the league. Now I know you're going to say that the Avs don't have to trade him, but cap space is gold in this league

I agree with that. What would be the additional “future(s)” you think would make the value of the trade more balanced? A Vancouver 1st going the other way?

Just because the Avs have the deepest D group in the league that doesn't diminish Girard's value. He's a no.3 Dman, and on a lot of teams he's a top pairing Dman.

Capspace is gold, but young impact players are worth more than gold. wink

Doesn't look like Alex Debrincat was gold. Relatively speaking at least

Having good players who deserve to get paid is a good "problem" to have. Better than swimming in capspace like Arizona and Chicago

Ottawa's cap space is going to evaporate in no time, so has Columbus's, and one day, so will Detroit's, Anaheim's, and Buffalo's. They've been on fire this summer, or should I say on a boiler
