Why in the world would a team pick a bottom pairing dman over a top 6 player (Mccann) or solid middle 6 contributor (Kerfoot)?

Because Holl was playing like a top 4, they should have traded him for an ELC player+ when his value was the highest.

That being said who's to say McCann would have the same production on the Leafs and if he did thry wouldn't have been able to afford him now anyways.
