this is going to be such a battle next year now. If newhook does play 2C this year i don't see that being enough for him and byram might want more as well with how high contracts are right now, if he plays a full season in top 4 mins he might be asking for 6+

Byram gets more than Dobson here. I think that's fair. Newhook is the big unknown. It may have to be a one year deal to get them through until the cap goes up. I really think they try and keep Girard.

Dobson is coming off a 51pt season, if Byram gets more than him the Avs will have the most explosive defense I can ever remember.

That was a pretty sweet deal for the Isles though. And with the cap slated to rise, I think 4.5 is a reasonable expectation.

He's not gonna be playing above Girard, so he won't get top 4 minutes unless Girard goes on the right side, which there's not much reason to do. Byram - Girard would be a weird pairing. The pairings here are perfect and how it should be.

his future is most likely top 2, they're not going to keep him on 3rd pairing especially after he showed he can play top 4 in the highest pressure situations in playoffs. His minutes aren't going to decline for him playing good. Girard has also played the right side half his career in colorado, but they won't be sheltering byram this season, he is only getting better.
