Where will Minnesota replace 33 goals and 85 points?

This is also coming from a team that subtracted with the intention to contend and struggled to score against STL in the 1st round.

No thanks, Ostapchuk is a decent prospect and Holl is a bottom pairing defenceman.

The future will replace those numbers. The team is in no need of Kerfoot or rush to win a cup with 14M in dead cap

And you bringing up struggling to score in round 1? Kerfoot had 2 points, mate

So Rossi is gonna be over ppg?

Boldy was already ppg last year, so unless he becomes a 90 point player its unlikely Minnesota replaces that production Fiala brought.

Re read the point I've made. I said Minnesota subtracted without adding. Adding only Kerfoot won't solve everything but its the issue the wild has because they subtracted without adding. You can't do that if your intention is to contend. Furthermore why resign Fleury if your intention is to not contend.

Plus like I said Boldy in the previous retort on the post Boldy was already ppg as a rookie. Unless body becomes a 90 point player this season and Rossi is a 60 point player out of the gate its unlikely they're replacing that production. Plus Hartman, Foligno and more had career years. Unlikely to replicate. If they do I'll happily eat my words.

RHD in the league aint cheap especially if a teams knows you're in need of one.

Case and point Toronto from 2018-2020. No team wanted to trade an RHD without one of their top prospects coming back. Ostapchuk is solid but he aint you're best prospect. He's maybe a middle 6F at his best. I doubt he becomes a top line players. If it was JBD, Branstrom or Grieg its a different story.

Ostapchuk doesn't have a lot of value, true, but that's not the issue here. We're not looking for just any random RHD, we need a distinct upgrade, of which Holl is not.

Holl is better than Zaitsev, but Zaitsev isn't in the picture either way.

Holl gets a lot of flack but it isn't because he aint good. He just makes one dumb mistake a game which is glaring. Holl is great at denying in transition which is where Ottawa needs help.

Holl biggest issue is that he likes to activate on the point and gets himself out of position when the puck goes the other way. It might be because of the system Toronto plays but he's a good dman. 4/5 dman on good teams, but a 6th dman on Stanley cup contenders.

So our necessary addition to fix that is Kerfoot? No, it's absolutely not.

They struggled to score against St. Louis? Buddy, I don't know if you've noticed, but the Blues are 46-28-5-9 versus the Wild all-time. Some teams just have specific teams numbers, and the Blues have long been the Wild's specific kryptonite. The Blues were literally the last team Minnesota wanted to face in a 1st round series. Their odds were literally better against Colorado than they were against the Blues in a 1st round match-up scenario.

As for where they make up Fiala's 80 points, did you forget that they were a top 5 offense in the league last year? With SIX players that were in double digits for goals. Boldy alone probably would of been #7 if he would have had played a full season.

Boldy had 39 points in 47 games and averaged the highest PPG of ANY rookie that played more than 10 games in the NHL last season. Over Zegras, Seider, Raymond, Caufield, Lundell, and everyone else. 50 points over a full 82 game schedule is entirely reasonable for Boldy. If Marco Rossi gets 30-40 points in his rookie season in his own right and in addition to that, well... you just found your 80 points.

    THE WILD DON'T NEED KERFOOT!

Rossi counts as an addition. He's not going to bring 85 points like Fiala did in the league's highest scoring season in what, 2 decades+? But he is goomg to help negate that loss.

The team also isn't in do or die, cup contention mode with 14M in dead cap. Kerfoot is about as likely to replace Fiala's production as Jost or Steel.

And even if the team was gunning for the cup for no reason this year, Kerfoot is still not a good target, especially at that price. You said it yourself, he's not going to replace that production. Hell, there's not a world where he could ever come close and that's not all, he limits the team's cap space if they do want to attempt to buy at the deadline again.

It's a bad move in every way possible (roster is full, the value is poor, it limits the team's cap space, etc) and helping Toronto seems to be at the very bottom of basically every single team's to do list.

And I believe it's you who needs to re-read. That production will be replaced by the future. In other words, that production is not a worry as cup contention is unrealistic and the prospect pool is stacked. There is no need to worry about Fiala's numbers as the team's best years are ahead of it

Well no one really knows how’s he gonna play that’s why young players develop, they don’t need kerfoot

The argument that the Wild need to replace Fiala's production is just not a great one. Yes, would it be nice, absolutely, but you replace his production with a $8.5M player, the only player on the market that could do that is Patrick Kane, which I would think the Wild have zero desire to pay that amount. Kerfoot is not about to be a PPG player, so why would you bury a top prospect in Rossi for another year just to bring in Kerfoot who is more likely than not going to have production that is closer to what Rossi would put up than what Fiala would put up, and on top of that, giving up a good prospect to do it.
