Are you crazy??? You think Ruzicka is going to put up 50 points without an PP time and play a massive role on the PK? If you believe in Pelletier as a top nine forward I understand why Calgary wouldn’t do this but as leafs fans will know from Robertson, AHL success even at a young age doesn’t necessarily translate to NHL success. This seems to me like a steal for Calgary but the leafs might be forced into making a move like this
Nope, haven't been diagnosed that way yet, but yes, Ruzicka could. Let's break it down why don't we by looking at their Even Strength Play:
Ruzicka 5G + 5A = 10 Point in 28 Games BUT with only 280 minutes played = 9:59ATOI = 2.14PTS/60 minutes played
Kerfoot 13G + 34A = 47 Points in 82 Games BUT with 1097 minutes played = 13:22ATOI = 2.57PTS/60 minutes played
Now before you get all excited that Kerfoot's number is slightly better, keep in mind Kerfoot was playing primarily 2nd line minutes with guys like Tavares & Nylander, whereas Ruzicka was primarily a 4th line C with low scoring Milan Lucic & Trevor Lewis on his Wings. Therefore I would expect given the same Even Strength TOI and with Superior Line Mates, Ruzicka would have done much Better than Kerfoot, he's simply More Offensively Talented. I'll give Kerfoot has More Experience and is of Greater Value on the PK, but I'd keep Ruzicka at his Cap Hit over Kerfoot all day long and he's a Younger, Much Bigger, Plays Centre and can actually Win Faceoffs
In 20GP, Robertson has 2 Goals + 1 Assist for 3 Points and is a -4 whereas in 31GP, Ruzicka has 5 Goals + 7 Assists for 12 Points and is a +10. One has proven he's NHL Ready, whereas the other still has work to do, so there's really no comparison there at this time
