For now, this can go with all the astute and not at all over-the-top comments that guaranteed the Avs couldn't win a Cup with Kuemper because he wasn't a "big game" goalie. Fact is, we won't know how Georgiev is really doing until at least the 20 game mark - it took Kuemper that long to adjust to playing with the Avs. The Avs FO is very analytics driven and obviously saw something they believed they could work with at a price they could afford given that they don't like paying goalies big money. It has everything to do with organizational philosophy and how the team is built and plays the game. It will be interesting to see how it works but proclaiming that this approach is already a failure is more than a little premature.
