I think the Kemper deal would have been an overpayment for what you were getting from him, but with your D core, maybe it's enough to insulate him as he closes in on his mid 30s.

I think you are better with Georgiev than Kemper at this point.

I think Kuemper is one of the most underrated Gs in the league. Aside from a poor playoffs where he played through an eye injury he was fantastic for the Avs - he was 5th in the league in GSAx last season. Hes easily a top 10 goalie imo and Id have no problem with paying him 5.25M as long as his eye injury isnt a long term issue

Goalie age curves are a lot different than skater age curves, signing a goalie from age 32 to 37 isnt nearly as risky as signing a skater for that same age range

I'm aware that goalies age better than skaters, but 37 is getting up there at the end of the deal. Kuemper also has a not insignificant injury history himself. I wouldn't be dropping that kind of term for that age with those durability concerns.

I think by the TDL you guys are going to be happy with your decision to go with Georgiev instead. Kemper is a good goalie, and I'm happy he got a cup, but I wouldn't have signed him to that deal without a potential future starter on my AHL team already for him to train up.
