Bolduc will not be playing C, Snuggs won't be ready and Phillips is about the last person on Earth I'd want to use as a 4C. The guy is microscopic and a full-on offensive player who is a winger now.

How Big or Small do you believe Phillips to be exactly!?

What are your thoughts & feelings on Torey Krug & Scott Perunovich then!?

Flames would take that Trade for sure and I can't wait for Phillips to get an opportunity at RW with a Team and hope he becomes a Great Player once given the opportunity. I'm sure he'd sign for $750-850k just to get the chance to prove himself in the NHL

Phillips is about a buck-60, playing the hardest position to play light, especially for an average skater. Krug and Perunovich are more like 175-180. While that is not ideal by me, it's a notable difference and they are plus skaters who use/are learning to use that closing ability to push things wide.

He's 5'8 165lbs and plays RW. He's not much smaller than Perunovich and doesn't play his size. Forechecks as if he were 6ft 185lbs+.

Phillips has only been given 1 NHL game where he nearly scored twice. I agree more size is ideal, but this kid hasn't been given a proper chance, so we don't really know what he can do in the NHL. He's proven to be a consistent Top Scorer with other NHL Prospects and Fringe NHL's/Professional Hockey Players, so he deserves a better look before passing negative judgements on him imo

Uhh all I said was he's the last guy you'd want centering a checking line. I wouldn't ask that guy to play 4C in the AHL, let alone in the NHL. Nobody would, including presumably you.

I'd play him wherever he was effective and contributed. Typically the 3rd line is your Checking Line (Shuts & Wears Down Lines 1&2) and the 4th line is your Energy Line (All out bursts, less TOI, so less pacing themselves like the other 3 lines) and many teams are adding fast skilled players rather than just Big Checkers & Enforcers; like 5'9 Nathan Walker for example

Walker is a big checker. And a depth player. And the Blues run the 4th line as a checking line. My point was no one would put this guy as a checking line C, which I can't believe should be even slightly controversial.

It shouldn't and I'm not even discussing that issue, since we already addressed he's a RW, not a C... My point is who cares how small he is, until he's been given a fair opportunity, all we can do is make guesses & assumptions. I'd play him at 2RW personally, but give him a chance and just play him to see what he has to provide. Might surprise you and can't do much worse than Kostin or Toropchenko did for STL last season

Setting aside that I think you're drastically overrating his ceiling, the Blues have three of the best scoring RWs in the league. He'd have less than zero shot of a top 9 role, and is entirely unsuited for a checking role. Not interested.

Don't forget this post is about next year's team with no more Tarasenko (or Acciari), so yes you have Kyrou and Buchnevich, but what if either went down with injury. You'd be left with a kid who just turned 19 in Snuggerud, who won't' be NHL ready like the poster has proposed and Toropchenko + Kostin if the Trade for Phillips doesn't go through who neither have proven to be very good. Could go with Martin Frk who can definitely score, but is weak defensively. Anyways, it's a toss up, but I'm just saying Phillips would be good depth and if given the opportunity may impress more than the other RW's you have, not counting your Top 2

Doesn’t surprise me. Sutter’s not going to him a fair chance. Hopefully he gets claimed and another Team gives him a proper chance. He played much better than Sonny Milano.
