Is Pettersson still available

Description
Pens fans on several ACGM's were trying to peddle Marcus over the summer, but I'm not sure if they're as keen to move him after the Marino trade and having the roster now fairly set. They also have pretty good forward depth, so re-acquiring Pearson might not be that enticing for them, but it would be on brand for Rutherford, haha.

Overall the Pens would get better depth and the Canucks would get a bit of a defensive upgrade on LD (if the Hughes-on-the-right-side-experiment pans out).

i think so, especially if POJ and Smith are NHL ready. With that said we wouldn't want Pearson back, he wasn't too good here

At first glance, I thought it was going to be about Elias Pettersson, no not that one, the other one. wink

I get the idea here, but taking back Dermott doesn’t really help Pittsburgh. If they r moving Pettersson it’s because they want to keep Dumoulin past this season, and play Smith and POJ 2nd and 3rd pair minutes.

Dermott is comfortable on both sides of the ice and is a fine 3rd pair guy. If he didn't work out PIT could just not extend him next year or try to trade his rights.

He is but Pearson is the wrong guy so maybe Dickinson instead. Also Dermott doesnt help us so that can be a pick or prospect instead

Should trade Dermott for pick before making that move then. Pitt has no incentive to trade for a guy they would then have to turn around and trade again.

Probably not with them trading Marino. But if he was, I’d think maybe the pens would want a waiver exempt prospect instead of Pearson. Dermott, a 4th and a prospect would probably be an acceptable return

Dickinson? Jason Dickinson? The 4th liner making 2x$2.65M? The guy who up up 5-6-11 in 65 GP last season? THAT's the guy you'd take over Tanner Pearson?

I mean, I get that Pearson gets paid more, but it's only $600K more - and he's been about a 0.5 pts/GP played over his 4 years in Vancouver. You're still cutting cap either way, and at least this way you get a player who has *some* sort of offensive upside.

I mean we've seen what Pearson does under Sully, be wasnt great. Dickinson is a solid bottom 6 guy that could be moved at the deadline or even flipped. I would mind a prospect and picks in return but I assume we'd have to take back some sort of cap

in case you forgot, Pitts traded for Pearson from LA a few years back, he had no chemistry on that team, and they flipped him 3 months later to Vancouver, so, yeah, can't see them wanting to take another stab at Pearson, Dickinson is clearly not an upgrade, but Pearson is definitely not on Pitts radar

Yeah - not a Pens fans so all I saw was the line. Definitely not great (I think it was 9-5-14 in 44 GP?) but somehow nearly double the pace of Dickinson!

But obviously y'all were following much closer than me back then and I'll gladly defer to your first-hand knowledge that Pearson wouldn't be a fit.
