I really don't get the athletic article, which says he could be a replacement for strome or backstrom? Caps already have 5 NHL centers, and Toews' defining quality on the caps would be being slightly better than lars eller. not worth the first + it will take to get him

Strome has been exactly what he was supposed to be -- a 2.5c that adds some offense. He's also the first center since like 2017 kuzy to make ovi actually drive play at 5v5, which is no small feat. Have to imagine this means the end of Eller and Mantha in DC, and probably Oshie as well.

We should bring back the Debrincat Strome duo. Wouldn’t care about the price

reading into the tea leaves a bit I think that 1) Mantha is gone 2) Oshie is gone and 3) At least one of McMike/Lapierre is gone this summer. Those would all line up very nicely for DeBrincat, and I would be all in on getting him or Meier

I totally agree - Eller is certainly gone, Mantha most likely, and Oshie...we shall see - I don't he is traded. But think he considers LTIRetire. Will be super sad as he is a fan favorite and team leader, but I think it might be best for him and for the team
