I probably would and risk that noone else is going to use their IR slot to stash him. I don't expect Carlson back for a few months and I think you'd have a leg up on the rest of the league as a Caps fan (unless they all are, in which case this point is moot) in knowing when Carlson is closer so you can swoop back in and pick him up when the time comes.

depends on the league. I've been in leagues where Gudas has been a great player due to hits and blocked shots, but sometimes leagues are weird (like the CF league last year) and overvalue faceoffs, making centers like Dowd legit options when normally they'd be on the fringes of any team in a big league.

do i like the unselfishness of strome with four seconds there. ye. he should know he isnt able to make the pass. he has an amzing shot. and he was in the slot with space. dude passed it. we are trying to get too fancy.

Yeah it’s a tough one there, you want him to rip it and he has a good wrister but he’s an elite passer with the greatest goal scorer of all time to his left. Defender made a great play.

I do want Strome to take more shots same with Kuzy.

Excited and curious to see Backy tomorrow. It’ll prolly take several games for him to get used to the pace. But i want to see how he moves and how he looks.

Will try to post all my Mantha thoughts in one place:

1) Mantha is not as bad as people say he is -- good underlyings, sixth on team in points while getting third line minutes
2) Mantha is also not as good as people say he is -- even his best two years in detroit where he was getting top line minutes and PP time he was only on pace for 60-70 points
2.1) Please please please whenever you are talking about a player's usage, and want to claim that a coach should be using them differently, be specific about who's minutes they should be taking. If Mantha should be getting powerplay time in DC, who's spot is he taking on the first or second unit? What winger should he replace in the top 6? Hate opening up this can of worms but who was McMichael taking top 6 minutes from? Vrana? Burakovsky?
3) He is a perfectly fine 6th or 7th forward, which means he is a little overpaid on his current deal
4) He has not been playing well the past ~10 games
5) Milano, Sheary, and MoJo have been playing very well the past ~10 games
6) Eller has had some horrible mistakes but generally has been fine this year, and unlike any of the other guys kills penalties regularly
7) One of the 5 of them had to come out of the lineup
8) There clearly is something Mantha is doing or not doing that Lav wants to change and feels he needs to send a message to do so
9) Mantha then becomes the guy to scratch
10) I very much doubt this will be a long term thing
