The only Way Hellebuyck is moved is he is having a GOD AWFUL season which at that point do you even trust him, the fact he has term will be a big driver in his value & i think it will be slightly more then that

Also this is the definition of the biggest What If for Buffalo

While the first is nice, the Jets wouldn't be tempted to move Helly without a sure thing coming back.

Winnipeg passes, Not even in the ballpark for Connor Hellebuyck.

And zero chance of Buffalo being the 4th best team in the Atlantic this year. Perhaps in 2-3 years from now,

Yeah that seems way to meager of an offer to try and pry Hellebuyck from the Jets.

Honestly, if the sabres are near a playoff spot at the deadline, they likely will have had above average goaltending from comrie. And if they had above average goaltending from comrie, why would they be looking to pay a premium to upgrade?

No one gives up that much value for Klingberg anyways.

Would you be so kind to give a comparable to this situation? Where a team trades away their starting goalie, who's arguably still a top 10 goalie in his prime, with 2 years left on his contract.
And the team in question doesn't have another really good goalie prospect waiting for his shot, nor do they acquire a replacement goalie in the trade.

Answering a question with a question.
Taking one comparable and forcing it into a finer detailed situation.

Your idea is fine. But there has never ever been a goaltender traded for that much, in any scenario.

Does that mean it would never happen ... idk. Sure there are some variables on WPG to be considered. But to say that the trade is ridiculously under priced is wild. When it would be the biggest trade for a goalie ever.

Well okay, I get your point. Maybe I exaggerated a bit, I don't really know the history of goalie trades all that well. I suppose you have a clearer picture of that.

However, the reason that the return for a goalie has never been much greater than what is suggested in this acgm trade might be that teams very rarely actually trade away their good/great starting goaltenders unless one of the following happens:

1. Goalie is trending downward for x amount of time
2. Org. and player doesn't get along
3. Player is soon to be UFA
4. Team is in rebuild mode
5. Some other reason I can't come up with atm

If the suggested deal was offered to a team that holds a goalie of Hellebuycks caliber and who isn't rebuilding or has any obvious reason to trade him, I don't think it would be enough.

I doubt the Jets will know if Hellebuyck will entertain an extension until the offseason, so getting him at the TDL is unlikely.
