Barrie isn’t going to be given away in a trade and the oilers certainly aren’t paying to get rid of him. Over the last 8 years he has been over a 40 point a year player on average with multiple years above 50 points. He may not be the greatest defensively however he has taken strides to be better in his own zone and is better than he used to be.

He is still god awful, there a good reason why no team keep him.

Montreal got paid a 1st to eat Monahan for a year. If you want to move Armia, who makes 2x as much total money as Monahan for multiple years, think 2x what you got paid to eat Monahan in terms of price. Cap space is that valuable.

Unless you are paying 2 firsts to dump Armia, Canes don’t have any interest in using their valuable cap space that is quite limited right now to take on Armia just to help the Habs.
