You think you get a 30 goal scorer, and one of the best faceoff men in the league in Horvat for 6 million?

You think Kane who just had 94 points only signs for 5 million?

You think Weegar, who is a top pairing D man on 90% of teams take 5 million?

Calgary and Van easily sign Horvat and Weegar to those prices and the entire league is beating that offer on kane

Hard to imagine New Jersey and Ottawa, two teams who are underdogs to make the playoffs (to put it mildly), trading away their tickets to the Bedard/Fantilli sweepstakes, or Boston then turning around and trading one of them away.

Right now the Devils have two goalies....if they are out they aren't going to panic for a goalie with a 23 1st, and if they are good, they won't need him.

Underperforming backup?

He was in the top 12 amongst qualified goalies in save%, GAA, GSAA.

He’s not a backup.

He makes 5m.

This trade is next offseason when only 1 of those goalies is under contract.

What an ignorant comment.

This is next off season season. The landscape changes completely. Timing matters.

Just because Boston “does not want” Reilly or Forbort next year does not mean they don’t have value. Just means they don’t need 5 LD under contract. 4 making 3m plus.

Habs traded Weber. Pens traded Matheson. They got value. They were harder to move than Reilly or Forbort.
