Pius Suter with 50% retention, Would probably only cost a 3rd round pick or possibly a late 2nd round pick.

If Copp works out at center I think either Suter or Veleno gets traded at the TDL. I would put them both on the trading block and trade the who brings in a bigger return.

But I agree some where between a 2nd and a 3rd with 50% retention.

If we keep Copp at center, And with the addition of Marco Kasper. It could make Veleno expendable. I'd do Veleno for Nils Lundkvist always need an upgrade at RD.

At the tdl, teams overpay, especially for centers who can move between 2c and 3c and play a 2 way game. On a good team, Suter us not going to be the cause of goals against, he plays a safe game. This is exactly what a contender covets for the playoffs. A 2nd is where the package starts. Add in a prospect or young reclamation project.

Right now, Boston has nothing anybody wants for the players listed. Anything Boston gives will be an overpay, as other teams have way more to offer in value.

Suter with retention would like be a second, a third isn't really worth it as we could probably get a third just for retaining on another player alone.

i feel like he still has some hidden potential and just needs better opportunites which he could get in 2023-24 for the bruins.

buffalo has had some good centers like eichel/ reinhart/ cozens/ thompson and a few other young guys that middlestadt gets slotted under and doesn't get the minutes that would help him succeded

don't overrate suter lol B's definitely have the assests to acquire him. he was good in chicago but was not good in detroit but i feel on a stronger team like boston he could breakout again at most he would cost a 3rd+ studnicka

I agree with your point about Suter being better on a better team. Boston certainly gives that opportunity. BUT, Suter was better than his stats suggested. His defensive play is excellent for a 2c/3c. His scoring was streaky, but his linemates were not consistent and the Defensemen he got were not ideal to put it nicely. Suter will go for more than a 2nd at the deadline. Is he worth more than a 2nd (as a rental)? No. But he will likely be one of the best middle 6 depth centers available in February or March.

Boston is at the same point Detroit was in 2013. Aging roster, still good players, but the rug got pulled and the fall is in slow motion. The prospect pipeline is not as good as you like to think. Most of the potential studs you think you got with late 1sts and later rounds will turn out to be duds. The magic runs out at some point, and for the Boston Bruins, that moment is fast approaching or already here.

How would you possibly fit either of Nyquist or Voracek under the cap? Either could probably be had for cheap to give the Jackets more space, but the Bruins are absolutely topped out.

Marco Kasper isn't going to play centre in the NHL for at least another two or three years. He has never played on NHL sized ice and he's currently playing behind Niederbach in the depth chart in Rögle. Not even Larkin played centre his first year in Detroit. Don't expect Kasper taking the 3C job until the 2025-26 season at the very earliest.

I'd argue that the cap considerations means they wouldn't be had for "cheap" - iIt's about time we started explicitly recognizing cap space as itself having value in a trade. That cap space is an expense.

Oh, and I don't think Roz is available for Fair Market Value right now. Not after how he was playing towards the end of the season, and not with that whole being a hometown kid thing.
