I think value is good but I hate giving up Evans. Probably our future #3 Center.

Not worth it for MTL. Evans is still progressing and fit Marty St.Louis style of play. There no incentive to make this trade. Anderson and a late second does not make the cut.

Montreal has soooo many forwards signed long term. 2nd round pick + getting a top 4 right d in Holl for the year may be beneficial. They could resell Holl at the deadline or extend him if he is a fit. I can see Holl fetching a Kulak esque return at the deadline at the high end. 3rd round pick at the low end. Anderson would be good for their AHL and is NHL ready as well.

I know how high Montreal fans are on Evans. Hence the price I paid!

Holl has been a top 4 dmen on the Leafs (who have been a pretty good defensive team) over the past 2 years. He has averaged over 20 mins a game on a top 5 team in the league. He has his flaws and is on the weaker side of a top 4 dman, but he has been one and would be one on Montreal. In an ideal world, he would be a very good 5/6 dmen on a cup contender.

Toronto was 19th in GA last year they werent some defensive stalwart.

He got bounced from the lineup by Ilya Lyubuskin. The leafs actively pushed Holl out of the lineup. He is not remotely a top 4 dman its laughable you think he is

I said he was for the Leafs based on ice time (until they got Gio) and he would be on Montreal based on the players they have now. I did say ideally he would be a 5/6 guy though. I personally preferred Lyubuskin over him as well and sad they lost Lyu. They are in the market for a Lyubuskin type of dman right now.

Part of why I signed ZAR here is for the physicality he brings. But Evans is a super hard working player. He would be great for our bottom 6. I do think this roster is missing size and physicality throughout it. I thought that would be their focus this off season. But they didn't go that route at all.

Thats highly debateble at best.

He is worse than matheson savard edmundson theres no debate on that.

Barron is ready to be full time and one of ghule and harris will be too.

Finally wideman runs the PP.

Thats 6. They arent benching a ypung player for Holl and everyone else has more use than him to the habs. Barring injuries he isnt in the lineup

Avs pass.

Not that MacD is better than Kerfoot, but he plays a role on the team and the Avs need that capspace to cover bonuses.

Only way Kerfoot would be of interest is at 50% retained, but even then I'd rather just wait until the TDL and spend the asset on someone else.
TJTwolf a aimé ceci.

Mtl have already many forward on their last contract year! They have absolutely no need to trade Evans unless they gain something valuable in return. Unless they get a huge haul like Lehkonen i don’t see them trading him for a UFA not so good defenseman. The picks is irrelevant since The prospect is worthless to the Habs. Maybe if the Habs would be competitive and Holl would be a missing pieces they would consider it but they are clearly not in a position where they want to get older and lose young solid speedy 2 way center.

That speaks more to the lack of right shot defencemen on the leafs and the strength of their left side really. Holl is ideally a 3rd pairing guy.

Using GA as your go to stat when the Leafs had bottom 5 goaltending is flawed; no? The Leafs ranked top 5-10 in stats such as shots against, shot attempts against, and most importantly expected goals against (basically shots against but the quality of shots against are considered).
They were a good defensive team, that is statistically undeniable. And Holl played big mins for the team, with good defensive results for these as an individual

Easy no for the Avs. No need to revisit Kerfoot and we got MacDermid for a reason.
