    Dadonov? Drouin? Johnson?

I think that it's time for Toronto to start getting younger, and also spend $8 million on 5 or 6 players instead of 3.

1 year deals, leaves flexibility open for when Matthews and Nylander are up

EJ is most likely going to retire, if he comes back for one more year it'll be a cheap deal with the Avs

So in your scenario prospects like Abramov, Abruzzese, Douglas, Holmberg and Steeves get no playing time in 2022-2023 and because they're blocked by Aube-Kubel, Dadonov, Drouin and Grant, they get no playing time in 2023-2024 either?

Like I said, I think it's time for Toronto to start developing their prospects, get younger, and get cheaper.

i agree, but I also don't think they'll be NHL ready by then. Maybe Holmberg

I think that is a pretty bad take on where that young group of forwards are in their development.

There is a strong arguement Robertson makes the team this year (although I would love to see a FULL injury free season from him with the Marlies).

Abruzeese and Steeves will be callups this season as is, and getting major playing time with the Marlies should have them more than ready for bottom 6 roles.

Holmberg is a year away.... I see a 200 foot 3rd line guy that will slide in seamlessly.

Douglas needs to work on his skating, and any organization worth their salt is going to give some focus on this guy. Too big not to be salivating at the thought of a 4th line role. Possibility there too.

3 of these 5 players should make the roster next year.

    Just a bad take.
