Would rather the Rangers pull off something closer to the Suter trade than the Bertuzzi trade.

I feel like they will reel in a pretty big fish like Kane or someone like that. A transcending type player that will take them to the next level. Although, I think with some development from Lafreniere & Kaapo and maybe some surprise production from Chytil and/or Kravtsov they could just standpat.

Tyler Bertuzzi is worth a hell of a lot more than Nils Lundkvist and a 1st and 2nd round pick. Detroit passes.

And we're not trading Hronek and Lundvist isn't an upgrade over Hronek. So Detroit passes again.

Maatta and Suter are the only ones i see Yzerman dumping on here, Bertuzzi perhaps but it will be a lot more than your return.

Basically this.

Only thing to add is that who knows Bertuzzi's value given his no Canada due to vax thing. If not for that, Bertuzzi goes for a high prospect, a 1st, a conditional 1st, and maybe a roster player.

If the deadline comes and this is the only offer and we don’t take it, I’ll be pissed.

What you described is essentially what this trade almost exactly is.

And the vax **** does affect his value as long as the restrictions are in place. Also, I doubt he re-signs before free agency next year if he’s traded.

Is Nils really that high a prospect? From my understanding he is an offensive D who needs top 4 minutes but is not great in his own end. By high end prospect I am saying more along the lines of someone not in the NHL yet but has top pairing or top 6 forward potential. Ideally in a position of need (in center), where the player will be ready to contribute significantly in a couple years. I dont think Nils is anything but competition for Hronek and a roadblock for the rest of the young D prospects.

Caps don't have need for Suter or Givani as DC is already overloaded at forward. Neither of these guys are upgrades, nor are they worth a 2nd round pick.

I just thought of WAS missing Tom Wilson and Nicklas Backstrom for a while. Suter will probably get a 2nd rounder at the deadline alone, if moved.

Lundkvist only has about 20 games under his belt so he’s still not even a rookie. His ceiling in my opinion is a top pair defenseman but likely has a future as a top 4 guy. He’s obviously not my first choice when it comes to prospects in a Bertuzzi deal but, given the current landscape of the NHL and its rules, the market for Tyler will surely be affected.

And Ultimately I rather get a package like that than nothing if we don’t re-sign Bert before the deadline. I also believe that he would like to choose his team for next year so I could absolutely see him electing for free agency after the year and although it is rare, I would not rule out a potential return to DET even if he is dealt.

Oh and also, our RHD prospects are nothing special.
