Yeah, I was just curious to his value, If i was the Leafs i’d try & get Durzi or Lundkvist for Sandin if he really doesn’t want to sign

The thing nonone realizes is the ONLY D Washington has signed beyond this season is Carlson. The other 5 are UFA/RFA.

McMichael also played around 6.5 mins less a game, plays a more valuable position, and hasn't refused to sign / asked for a trade. Prospect swaps only happen if the gap between the two players is so big that you would be stupid to pass it up, or if both guys want out or need a change of scenery. If they do end up moving Sandin by himself and not in a bigger package, don't expect much more than a 2nd coming back, and certainly not a blue chip prospect.

McMichael averaged only 10 minutes on ice last year so obviously Sandin was better on points, but their value is not that close. Especially with Backstrom possibly done for good, McMichael becomes much more valuable than Sandin. While only Carlson is under contract, Fehervary is an RFA, Johansen and Alexeyev will also be back, and without Backstrom and Hagelin on the books bringing back Orlov and Jensen won’t be a problem.

Not disputing what you are saying. Suggesting that there is logic in the construct. Leafs would likely have to add if it happened.

For my money, it is pretty clear the Caps are trying to win another Cup in the Ovie era. Anything is possible if that is in fact the mindset.
