One year of Sean Monahan (cap hit $6.375 million) cost Calgary a first-round draft pick, while one year of Dimitriy Kulikov (cap hit $2.25 million) didn't cost Minnesota anything but they didn't get anything in return, either, so three years of that awful $5.95 million cap hit of Nate Schmidt's isn't going to be easy to move. And Florida is almost $3.4 million over the cap right now, so I don't see how they could take on Blake Wheeler's $8.25 million cap hit while sending only $850,000 back.

Sorry, I didn’t mean that he’s not a good player, I meant it in the sense the habs would prefer a higher draft pick and getting PLD does not help us achieve that. Even with PLD we are not a playoff team so no point sending out assets now only for him to make us slightly less bad and more average

I think it is fair to say it comes from Dubois as what the agent says is done with the approval of the client. While the word choice may not necessarily be Dubois', Brisson is a seasoned pro and would not have done it without the green light from his client. Dubois backed up his agent in public comments, so he did not disapprove of the approach. He is paying his agent to do the dirty work.

I have heard a couple of former GMs say that what the agent says is viewed as coming from the player, which makes sense as he is the paid representative of the player.

I think you can definitely take it that way. You’re right he definitely approved of what Brisson was doing. My thing was just that Dubois has always kept what he’s said himself the same. That he doesn’t want to commit long term and is seeing how things go. Total fluff BS but at least he’s not fueling the fire himself.
