Caps easily pass on this. Iorio has the potential to be a top 4 defenseman and I feel Höglander regressed last year, if he doesn't do well in the next couple years I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Sweden.

Cool your Jets. Hoglander had a bad sophomore season at the age of 20 years old. He is far far far away from being out of the NHL. Seems like everyone forgot that he had a very solid rookie year and greatly overexaggerate his regression. There is no reason he won't bounce back

All I was saying is that if he continues to play like last year I wouldn't be surprised to see him go back to Sweden. However, I actually think he will have a bounce back year...

I probably should of said that in my original reply.

But I still think the caps easily pass on this trade, too much of a risk and not enough value imo.

I feel like the Canucks would also think the same way on their side of the deal. They are trading a 21 year old established NHL top 9 forward for a prospect. It is just as much a gamble as well.

Prospect swaps are really rare and both teams need a definitive reason to do it -- there's just no motivation for the caps on this unless they are extremely high on hoglander and would play him on the second line ahead of oshie, sheary, McMichael, Snively. They don't really have space for Hoglander this year without moving a winger out and are very happy with Iorio's development so I don't really see the need for them to do this, even if the value is fine.

Capitals decline this easily, absolutely no reason to consider this.
