Jim Nill says, Go take a hike. Robertson isn't going anywhere unless it's home to Detroit.

I feel like that’s a bad trade for both sides. Would be horrendous for Dallas if Slaf struggles

Robertson isn’t going anywhere in general. Not sure why you think Dallas would let him go to Detroit, even if he grew up in Michigan (unless you mean in the future if he’s ever a UFA)

It's meant as sarcasm, I was just saying that Robertson would likely go home to Detroit as he would wind up in Montreal. As Detroit definitely has the pieces to nab him. Plus with Yzerman and Nills history it's more probable of him in Detroit than Montreal. While i agree he isn't going anywhere.

Ahhh that makes sense. It can be tough to pick up sarcasm online

Not really sure how Dallas would say no to this. Slafkovaky, a 2023 first, armia may be a bit of a negative asset in Dallas eyes, but when the last time a 1OA didn't work out, Nail Yakupov?

Idk. Dallas might do this. A 2023 1st and 1OA from 2022. Dallas could spend Robertson’s money on Defense. I would pull the trigger on the deal. In two to three years the team would be pretty damn solid on Offense. As a Dallas fan knowing how good Robertson is, I would really consider this deal.

Robertson is what you hope Slafkovsky becomes. I’d hate to get rid of Robertson. Throwing in the 23 1st though makes me accept.

I believe I just don’t see Us as a real contender. Build from the back to the front. Let Otter and Heiskanen mature another year. Build around Johnston, Stankhoven and Borque. Add in Slafkovsky and 23 1st and the offense could be absolutely lethal in 2-4 years.

That is were I’m at as well. With the Benn and Seguin contracts, I think that locking up the future is just as important as watching the cap. It might be hard to sell the idea to the owner.

When you think about a top 5 ranked pick like Slafkovsky, you’d expect him to be a NHL player this year. Robertson cap hit could involve trades that would cost picks. The team possibly wouldn’t be as good this year coming year, but in a couple years, the team could be blazing.
