Overpay for both Bear and Sandin

They are both top 4 D, which is what VAN desperately needs

Sandin only played 1 game as an RD last year. So saying he isn't great on his off wing is an unproven statement. Although I wouldn't trade for him and expect him to be good on the right.

No, I've heard others say that Sandin has a bigger sample size playing RD than just 1 game, they all said he wasn't as good as he is playing LD

Hard no for me from the Leafs side. Nothing against Hoglander as a player, just the young crop that the Leafs have at LW is already pretty strong while the LD pool pretty much starts and ends with Sandin. Kokkonen could be a guy that settles in as a 3rd pair D eventually, but that's about it.

He's not great defensively. Too small, and he's not a great skater

Sandin is above average defensively, plays with and edge and his 4 way mobility is elite. He’s just not a fast north-south skater, but he doesn’t need to be. He’s going to be one of the better two way defenseman in the league within two years.
